The Healing Circle strives to provide survivors with a a forum where their silence can be broken; where they can gather with other youth who have had similar experience and understand that they are not alone. Survivors begin to understand that they are not to blame for their abuse, and that healing is possible.
The Healing Circle works to provide children with tools that are more healthy ways of dealing with feelings of rage, depression, self hatred and mistrust created by sexual violence. We know that if left untreated, the effects of sexual abuse do not just go away. Without support and tools, survivors have a hard time breaking the generational cycle that often happens with sexual violence. VOCA Camps and other services, provide that support and help youth develop new coping mechanisms that are less destructive than numbing activities.
Many other organizations work with the issues of chid sexual abuse. Below are links to some resources that may be helpful in understanding sexual abuse, and fighting to end it.
